BloGTK, a weblog client for Linux

I have been meaning to setup a weblog client for a while now. I have tested a couple of weblogs clients and have settled on BloGTK.

It has a simple user interface but comprehensive features, although I did need to define a few Custom Tags before the editor supported all the formatting options I wanted.

Setting up BloGTK is very simple for Ubuntu and Debain users.

aptitude install blogtk

Once installed, the following settings will connect to a WordPress blog.e

Now I can blog directly from my desktop, I am hoping it will encourage me to post more often :-)

Hey thanks, I kept trying to get BloGTK to work but I didn’t realize that it needed to be pointed to the xmlrpc file, unlike the Gnome Blog Entry Poster. I still can’t seem to get BloGTK to work for me though, for various reasons, like using categories.

With the settings I have shown above, when I select File -> Connect the WordPress categories are populated in the drop down.

Can someone give me advice on setting up BloGTK?

My blog is a WordPress blog hosted by http://www.siteground.com. I can edit my blog online by going to mydomainname/wp-admin and entering my login and password. I can edit my account at siteground by going to their site with a different login and password.

    Where is xmlrpc.php?
    Which login/password do I use?

    Thanx in advance.

I am having the same problems. Blog entry poster is ok, but it doesn’t really save or have a decent spell-check. In fact it doesn’t do anything other than post to my wordpress blog. Which is a heck of a lot more than a few other blogging clients that I tried. Yikes!

Gosh I wish something like Zoundry Raven was available for Linux. (Are you reading this, you scoundrels?)

I did find a useful posting at: http://freemor.wordpress.com/2008/04/13/using-blogtk-with-wordpresscom/

Goodness, why didn’t I think to click the “moveable type blog” to set this up for my wordpress blog? How aggravating!

I am just trying to use it now. I now see my categories in the drop-down. So far this is a great big headache.
